Foundational Training

Recruit Training (RT)
Required FirstThe foundation of your Sea Cadet career. Build discipline, military bearing, and teamwork through physical training, drill, and naval traditions. 9 days. Required before attending any Advanced Training.
Navy League Orientation (NLO)
League CadetsIntroduces younger cadets to Sea Cadet basics — drill, teamwork, physical training, and military fundamentals. Required before attending all other League cadet trainings.

Chiefs' Capitol Hill Day
CPO OnlyRepresent Sea Cadets in Washington, D.C. Meet with members of Congress and advocate for the program. Competitive selection announced mid-April.
Military Academy Summer Programs
Experience life at U.S. service academies. Classes, physical training, and leadership challenges with academy staff — a closer look at academy life.
Petty Officer Leadership Academy
Required PO2+Lead teams, solve problems, communicate clearly, and mentor junior cadets. Required for promotion to Petty Officer Second Class and higher.
NLCC Junior Leadership Academy
LeagueCore leadership principles for Navy League Cadets. Build responsibility, discipline, communication, and decision-making skills to lead in your unit and beyond.
Training at Sea
Swim qualifications required in addition to PRT.
Seamanship
Shipboard Operations
Navigation, watchstanding, damage control, and hands-on shipboard procedures aboard Navy vessels or operational ships.
Small Boat Operations
Operate military-style small boats used by the Navy and Coast Guard. Docking, line handling, navigation, and crew coordination.
Coast Guard
Coast Guard Shore / Boat Station

Dive (SCUBA)
Basic SCUBA
Earn your Open Water SCUBA certification. Pool sessions and open water dives build equipment skills and underwater confidence.

Advanced SCUBA
Deeper dives, underwater navigation, and search-and-recovery. Builds on Basic SCUBA with complex underwater missions.

ATDM
Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing. Hands-on CAD, 3D printing, CNC machining, non-destructive testing, and welding. Navy-backed program.
Shipbuilding
Explore shipbuilding trades, engineering concepts, and hands-on tools. Learn how ships and submarines are designed and built.
Submarine Industrial Base
Inside look at next-generation submarine construction. Train at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, VA.
Trades
Military Sealift Command — Beginning
Firefighting, damage control, water survival, search and rescue, fall protection, and cargo crane operation at Fort Eustis, Newport News, VA.
Military Sealift Command — Intermediate
Advanced MSC course taught by professionals. Earn U.S. Coast Guard certifications required to sail aboard an MSC vessel.

Construction & Technical Trades
Seabee
Basic welding and construction skills. Shop safety, equipment setup, and Seabee missions supporting military and humanitarian operations.
Welding
Professional welding at North Central Texas College with certified instructors. Stick, wire, and aluminum methods. Blueprint reading included.
Culinary Arts
Cook with real chefs, create recipes, and improve food presentation. Earn a food handler certification and compete in a master chef-style challenge.

Cybersecurity
How networks work, how cyber threats happen, and how systems are protected. Hands-on digital defense and problem-solving.
Robotics
Build and operate remotely controlled vehicles. Basic engineering, programming concepts, and mission-based teamwork.
SeaPerch
Build an underwater ROV from a low-cost kit. Hands-on marine engineering, robotics, and science with a team focus.
Public Safety
Police / Master-at-Arms
Military law enforcement basics. Searching, arresting, crowd control, and building clearing alongside experienced officers.
Marksmanship
Firearm safety, responsibility, and shooting disciplines in a structured, supervised environment. Consent form required.
Firefighting
Every sailor is a firefighter. Structural and wildland firefighting with CAL FIRE (CA), or shipboard damage control with Military Sealift Command.
Judge Advocate / Law
Hands-on mock trial. Criminal and military law including the UCMJ. Builds critical thinking, public speaking, and argumentation skills.
Medical
Medical (3 Levels)
NLCC: First aid & health basics. Basic: CPR, bleeding control, injury stabilization. Advanced: Trauma scenarios, triage, and coordinated response.
EMT Services
Introduction to emergency responder patient care, medical equipment use, and team coordination during emergencies.
Field Medical
Provide care in outdoor or limited-resource settings. Quick patient assessment, basic treatment, and safe patient movement during field scenarios.
Special Operations
Field Operations
Mission planning and execution in outdoor settings. Land navigation, communications, and small-team operations in realistic scenarios.
Wilderness Survival
Shelter building, firecraft, water procurement, land navigation, and survival planning. Builds resilience in remote environments.
Rope Rescue
Knots, rappelling, climbing, and emergency rescue systems. Hands-on confidence-building in challenging terrain.
Communications & Operations
Photojournalism
Tell stories through photos, writing, and digital media. Capture Sea Cadet events and build creative communication skills.
Ceremonial / Honor Guard
Color guard, rifle drill, and ceremonial procedures. Present the American flag with pride at events and official ceremonies.
Supply & Logistics
Inventory management, equipment accountability, and logistical planning. Learn the systems that keep operations fully supported.
Ham Radio
Operate real radio equipment for long-distance communications. Proper procedures and how to keep comms running when normal systems fail.
