GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
SEA CADET GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
“General” Knowledge does not mean unimportant or trivial - in fact, it is the opposite. All cadets are expected to KNOW THESE BY HEART at all times.
Sea Cadet Oath, Cadet Code of Conduct, and USNSCC Core Values
CO’s TOP 6:
** Violating CO’s Top 6 will be grounds for severe consequences: demotion in rank, termination from the unit, termination from the USNSCC program, Captain’s Mast, and more.

No Hazing
No Sexual Harassment
No Fraternization
No Cadet-to-Cadet Contact
Zero Tolerance for Substance Abuse
Discrimination: We are a color-blind, gender-blind organization. There is no place in Sea Cadets for ignorant biases, racism, sexism, or bigotry. Discrimination of any kind does not belong here and is not tolerated.
Hazing: Hazing is conduct that causes a Cadet to suffer or be exposed to any activity which is abusive, humiliating, oppressive, or harmful, even if the victim is a willing participant. This kind of behavior is unacceptable.
Sexual Harassment: Sexual harassment is a form of discrimination that involves unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical contact of a sexual nature that interferes with an individual’s performance, or creates an intimidating or hostile work environment. This policy is gender neutral and applies the same way to males or females at the training. This is not the place for jokes, kidding, teasing about sexuality, flirting, or connecting on Facebook for dates later. Leave that at home; it’s not what you’re here for.
Fraternization: Fraternization is an unduly familiar relationship between superiors and subordinates that is prejudicial to good order and discipline. Fraternization weakens the chain of command by creating favoritism, or the appearance of favoritism in our training environment. Everyone here has a job to do; your job is to learn everything that is taught to you, and the best way for all of us to succeed at our jobs is to be professional.
Cadet-to-Cadet Contact: There is to be no cadet-to-cadet contact; keep your hands to yourself! Any relationships between Cadets must be professional in all respects. Focus on your mission, and focus on your division’s success
Substance abuse: We have a zero-tolerance policy that covers illegal drugs, as well as prescription and over-the-counter medications. All medications will be turned in at check-in. You cannot take any medication here unless it is prescribed to you and administered by our adult staff. Sharing your medications with other Cadets is also strictly prohibited.
Sailor's Creed:

Petty Officer's Creed:
I am honored to have achieved the rank of cadet Petty Officer in the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps through dedication, hard work and motivation. I have learned by being a follower, and am now prepared to become a leader. As a cadet Petty Officer, I will train my shipmates to the best of my ability, while continuing to further my knowledge of the United States Navy and Coast Guard. I will set the example and disciplined, educated, physically fit and unbiased leader. I will instill in my shipmates, through my own example, the highest standards of Pride, Service and Patriotism, while conducting myself with Honor, Courage and Commitment.
Anchors Aweigh:
Stand Navy out to sea
Fight our battle cry
We'll never change our course
So vicious foes steer shy-y-y-y
Roll out the TNT, anchors aweigh
Sail on to victory
And sink their bones to Davy Jones
Hooray!
Anchors aweigh my boys
Anchors aweigh
Farewell to foreign shores
We sail at the break of day-y-y-y
Through our last night on shore
Drink to the foam
Until we meet once more
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home
Blue of the mighty deep
Gold of God's great sun
Let these colors be
Till all of time be done, done, done, done
On seven seas we learn
Navy's stern call
Faith, courage, service true
With honor over honor over all
